Summary

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Engineering Applications Administrator 1 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for performing basic administrative tasks, including managing basic system and performance management as well as performing on call duties as needed, responding to alerts and taking appropriate corrective actions.

Essential Functions
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves problems of basic scope using proper tools and techniques
  • Applies basic standards and procedures to accomplish tasks including learning how to use and apply applicable technologies
  • Thoroughly documents work in an organized manner and manages change effectively through documented change procedures
  • Communicates in written and verbal form effectively in a small team setting
  • Performs basic administrative tasks by following defined procedures
  • Covers on-call duties and procedures
  • Analyzes existing systems for improvements and manages basic system performance management
  • Creates work instructions and knowledge articles
  • Understands and enforces basic system controls
  • Implements, configures, and supports business applications specifically related to Applications Administration
  • Works with users to analyze/configure/tailor security and access levels to related applications and ensures the security access is appropriate and the necessary approvals have been obtained

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or another substantially similar field OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Experience and/or training with enterprise technology systems
  • Excellent academics with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to learn basic technical concepts independently
  • Demonstrated strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task independently in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment

Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a team environment
  • Experience managing software engineering applications:
    • Atlassian's Jira and Confluence, Artifactory, Gerrit/GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jenkins/Zuul, Docker, Kibana
    • Cloud Infrastructure (OpenStack, Amazon AWS, Cloud Foundry)
    • Virtualization technologies (VMWare, VirtualBox)
  • Experience managing projects and working with key stakeholders
  • Expertise and ability to provide fundamental support and administration for Windows and Linux Operating Systems
  • Experience developing tools and processes to improve workflows
