Job Summary

The Student Assistant will support the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering as a Research Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026. This position very specifically calls for a candidate who is ready for fast contribution to implementation of a software-defined radio that communicates with a roadside unit located in Statesboro for vehicular communications.

Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.

Employment is contingent upon funding.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the investigator in implementing a software-defined radio, collecting data, and writing reports in the area of wireless communications

Shift Specifics
  • Up to 20 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education
  • In BSEE, BSCpE of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience in software development and research projects on computer engineering and/or telecommunications

Proposed Salary

$20.00 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

SKILLS
  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
