Job Title: SAP PP/DS Technical / Functional Consultant

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced SAP PP/DS (Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling) Technical/Functional Consultant to support the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of our SAP PP/DS environment integrated with SAP S/4HANA. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of functional process knowledge and technical configuration expertise across the PP/DS module, with the ability to bridge business requirements and system capabilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Design & Configuration
Lead end-to-end configuration of SAP PP/DS including demand management, MRP/MPS, capacity planning, detailed scheduling, and production orders
Design and configure PP/DS heuristics, optimization runs, and scheduling strategies aligned with plant-level production requirements
Collaborate with production planning, operations, and supply chain teams to map business processes to SAP PP/DS functionality
Support integration with SAP S/4HANA MM, SD, QM, and PM modules
Configure APO/IBP-to-PP/DS data flows where applicable (live cache, CIF/integration model setup)
Technical Development & Support
Develop and maintain ABAP enhancements, BAdIs, user exits, and custom programs in support of PP/DS processes
Design and support PP/DS interfaces including EDI/IDocs, BAPIs, and RFC-based integrations with external planning or MES systems
Build and maintain custom reports, ALV grids, and PP/DS planning board enhancements
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues related to production order processing, capacity scheduling, pegging, and planning runs
Participate in performance tuning of MRP/MPS planning runs and live cache operations
Project Delivery:
Contribute to full-lifecycle SAP project delivery: blueprinting, realization, testing (unit, integration, UAT), cutover, and hypercare
Prepare functional specifications, technical design documents, configuration workbooks, and training materials
Lead or support system upgrades, S/4HANA migrations, and PP/DS release-level changes
Coordinate with Basis, security, and other functional teams to ensure end-to-end solution integrity
Stakeholder Engagement:
Conduct workshops and working sessions with business stakeholders to gather requirements and validate solution design
Provide production support and root-cause analysis for PP/DS-related issues; manage tickets through resolution
Train and mentor business users and junior SAP team members on PP/DS processes and system usage
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on SAP PP/DS configuration and implementation experience
Strong understanding of manufacturing planning concepts: MRP, MPS, capacity planning, finite scheduling, pegging, and ATP
Experience with SAP S/4HANA PP or APO PP/DS (embedded or standalone)
Working knowledge of ABAP: debugging, reading code, writing functional specs for technical development
Familiarity with SAP integration technologies: IDocs, BAPIs, RFC, ALE, and CIF
Experience with at least 2 full-cycle SAP PP/DS implementations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate complex business scenarios into SAP solutions
Excellent communication skills; ability to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and IBP-to-PP/DS integration
Exposure to SAP MES/ME (Manufacturing Execution) integration or third-party MES systems
Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA manufacturing innovations: MRP Live, predictive MRP, or digital manufacturing
Familiarity with SAP Ariba supply chain collaboration or supplier portal processes
Experience in food & beverage, consumer goods, or process manufacturing industries
SAP certification in PP, PP/DS, or Supply Chain Management
Exposure to Agile/SAFe delivery methodologies
Education
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
