Senior Data Engineer Talend

Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer Talend to support the development, operational support, and continuous improvement of an enterprise data integration environment.
This is a hands-on technical role focused on designing, developing, deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintaining, and enhancing Talend-based data integrations that support critical business applications, data exchanges, analytics, and reporting solutions.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Talend, SQL, ETL/ELT, enterprise integrations, production support, and data engineering, along with a disciplined and service-oriented approach to platform operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy Talend integration jobs, services, APIs, and reusable components.
- Develop ETL/ELT solutions to integrate data across databases, files, APIs, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications.
- Translate business and data requirements into technical designs, data mappings, transformation logic, and reconciliation processes.
- Build reusable, parameterized, and environment-aware integrations for development, testing, and production environments.
- Develop scalable batch and near-real-time integration solutions.
- Participate in solution design, estimation, and release planning activities.
- Deploy, schedule, orchestrate, and monitor Talend jobs, services, and platform components.
- Investigate and resolve integration issues, production incidents, data-load failures, and performance bottlenecks.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
- Monitor platform health, job execution, throughput, and failures.
- Implement and maintain logging, monitoring, alerting, and automated recovery processes.
- Support production releases, platform upgrades, patching, and environment maintenance.
- Work with infrastructure teams, vendors, data engineers, platform administrators, and business stakeholders to resolve platform and integration issues.
- Utilize AI and automation tools to streamline data engineering workflows, including pipeline development, testing, monitoring, and documentation.
- Leverage AI-assisted tools for code generation, optimization, and code review to improve development efficiency and quality.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Computer Science or a related field.
- Hands-on experience developing enterprise data integration solutions using Talend Studio.
- Experience developing ETL/ELT jobs, data transformations, orchestration workflows, error handling, and deployment-ready integration components.
- Experience administering and supporting Talend Management Console (TMC) or Talend Administration Center (TAC).
- Experience with Talend job deployment, scheduling, environment management, monitoring, execution tracking, release promotion, and operational support across development, test, and production environments.
- Experience installing, configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting Talend Remote Engines, Job Servers, and Talend runtime infrastructure.
- Experience with environment maintenance, log analysis, performance tuning, connectivity troubleshooting, security configuration, and platform reliability.
- Experience providing production support for enterprise integration solutions, including incident management, root-cause analysis, monitoring, performance optimization, configuration management, deployment validation, and troubleshooting integration failures.
- Experience working within a mature Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Experience with Git-based source control, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, testing, release management, documentation, and change management.
- Experience using AI for code generation, data analysis, automation, or improving data engineering workflows.
Required Experience
- 3+ years designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise integration solutions using Talend Studio.
- 5+ years administering and supporting Talend Management Console (TMC) or Talend Administration Center (TAC).
- 3+ years supporting Talend Remote Engines, Job Servers, and Talend runtime infrastructure.
- 2+ years providing production support for enterprise integration solutions.
- 4+ years working within a mature SDLC environment using source control, CI/CD, testing, release management, and change management.
- 1+ year of experience using AI for code generation, data analysis, automation, or data engineering productivity.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience performing business requirements analysis related to data manipulation, transformation, cleansing, and data wrangling.
- 6+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including database design, optimization, and administration in enterprise environments.
- 2+ years of experience building scalable ETL pipelines, enforcing data quality, and implementing cloud integration using Talend technologies.
- 3+ years of experience building secure and scalable RESTful APIs for data exchange, including authentication, error handling, and real-time automation.
- 3+ years of experience with message queuing technologies, such as ActiveMQ and Service Bus, for scalable asynchronous communication across distributed systems.
- Experience working with ServiceNow and Azure-based data management platform integrations.

Remote Work Requirements
- The position is expected to be 100% remote.
- The resource must work from within Canada due to network and data security requirements.
- The contractor is responsible for providing the equipment necessary to perform remote work, including a computer, software, peripherals, supplies, and appropriate workspace.
- The computer must run a modern version of Windows or macOS compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and required remote-access software.
- Windows is strongly preferred for system compatibility.
