Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced SAP FICO Consultant with strong expertise in Taxation and/or Record to Report (R2R) to support a long-term engagement based in Chicago, IL. The role follows a hybrid work model, requiring periodic onsite presence.
The ideal candidate will bring deep functional knowledge of SAP Financial Accounting and Controlling, hands-on implementation experience, and the ability to work closely with business stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support SAP FICO implementations with a strong focus on Taxation (US Tax, VAT, Sales & Use Tax) and/or Record to Report (R2R) processes
- Configure and customize SAP FI modules including GL, AP, AR, Asset Accounting, Bank Accounting, and Tax
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Work closely with business users to gather requirements and translate them into SAP solutions
- Perform system configuration, testing (unit, integration, UAT), and documentation
- Provide production support, issue resolution, and continuous process improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including CO, MM, SD, and external tax engines (e.g., Vertex, Avalara – if applicable)
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 10+ years of hands-on SAP FICO experience
- Strong expertise in Taxation and/or R2R processes
- Proven experience in SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA Finance
- In-depth understanding of US accounting principles and financial reporting
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid onsite/offshore environment
Nice to Have:
- Experience with S/4HANA Finance transformations or migrations
- Exposure to tax integration tools like Vertex or Avalara
- Prior experience working in large enterprise or global implementations
