Capital Project Engineering Manager - (Travel up to 75%)

Location: Multi-site responsibility

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineering Manager to provide technical and professional leadership across multiple sites. In this role, you will lead capital projects, improve plant performance, and ensure safe, reliable operations.

The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and brings strong project management, technical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration skills. This position requires extensive travel to support project execution across our manufacturing network.

Engineering & Project Leadership

Lead the planning, development, and execution of capital projects and plant improvements.

Evaluate opportunities for new business, line extensions, and facility upgrades.

Support the design, construction, and startup of new facilities and major expansions.

Oversee external partners-including vendors, architects, and engineers-through bidding, contract evaluations, and award recommendations.

Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and quality using strong project management discipline.

Responsibilities

Identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies, equipment, and systems.

Conduct feasibility studies, process analyses, and cost-benefit assessments.

Assist in designing processing, packaging, and utility systems for optimal performance.

Provide construction oversight and manage commissioning/startup activities.

Ensure all solutions meet safety, food safety, and regulatory requirements.

Operational Support

Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and engineering codes.

Follow established programs and practices to support safe, high-quality food production.

Support performance improvement initiatives and embody our high-performance work system principles.

Work around ingredients and finished products that may contain food allergens.

Travel Requirement

Travel 75%+ to lead and support capital projects across the division.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or related discipline).

5-10 years of project engineering experience delivering projects on time and within scope/budget.

Demonstrated success leading engineering projects from concept through completion.

Experience in operations, process design, contractor supervision, and project management.

Engineering leadership experience in processing or packaging environments, including equipment replacement and technology upgrades.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with plant teams, engineering partners, and contractors.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in computer applications, including spreadsheets and project scheduling tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the CPG industry.

Proven ability to manage multiple capital projects simultaneously.

Consistent success meeting project deliverables for capital programs.
