Description - ExternalDevelops and applies advanced mechanical engineering design methods and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex technical problems. Leads customer application related evaluations and problem solving efforts, including new customer installations. Plans, conducts, technically directs and evaluates projects or major phases of significant projects, and as needed coordinates the efforts of technical support staff.
Analyzes, evaluates and plans method of approach and organizes means to achieve solution of complex technical problems, and has the capability to conduct or lead tests. Reviews literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects. Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to the Director, Engineering Technology. The person in this role will interface with all internal departments, especially Engineering, Procurement, Quality and Sales. Also interfaces with various outside contacts including customers, suppliers and possibly independent contractors.
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Guides the development of new and modified legacy engine applications including development into a final product.
- Serves as a resource to others with respect to engine applications and installation, and is considered an expert in the product application/installation disciplines
- Identifies and orchestrates implementation of new technologies supporting engine and vehicle product improvement
Qualifications - External QUALIFICATIONS: - Minimum Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, etc).
- Masters Degree is a plus.
- Understanding of Six Sigma methodologies desirable.
- 6 to 10 years previous experience is required.
- Knowledge of FAA regulations and certification experience is a plus.
- Excellent presentation skills required - MS Office Suite conversant (Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Project).
- Excellent technical writing skills for writing and reviewing reports required.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time required.
