IT Programmer - Senior COBOL Developer

Location: Blythewood, South Carolina (FULLY ONSITE)

Length: 12 month contract

Pay rate: 65-70/hr. on W2 basis

Role Overview

The position is for a Senior Programmer and Team Lead within the COBOL development team, reporting to the COBOL development manager. The successful candidate will directly support the core business system known as Phoenix and will be required to obtain CJIS information security certification, which will be sponsored.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze the Phoenix core business system and assigned tickets for development or system modification.
• Lead the analysis and proposal of solutions for assigned tickets and projects.
• Code, test, and promote solutions, interacting with users to ensure requirements are met.
• Provide production support for the Phoenix system.

Required Qualifications

Experience:

• 10+ years of experience with Visual and/or Micro Focus COBOL.
• 1+ year of experience with Visual COBOL V9.
• 10+ years of experience with computer system analysis, design, coding, testing, and debugging for developing new systems or modifying existing ones.
• 10+ years of experience developing and maintaining complex, mission-critical applications in a Windows-based Client-Server environment.
• 10+ years of experience coding and testing complex COBOL-based business systems in an Oracle SQL database and Windows-based client-server environment.

Education:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle 19+ SQL
• Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET / C# development environment.
• Experience working in a governmental environment.
• Visual COBOL technical certifications.
