Network Security Engineer I: SOC

The Network Security Engineer position will join our Gladiator Security Operations blue team that is a recognized leader in providing network and information security services exclusively to financial institutions. Gladiator provides comprehensive services that include around-the-clock management, correlation, and monitoring of multiple security layers specifically designed and developed for financial institutions to safeguard information assets, IT infrastructures, and business continuity by identifying and addressing internal and external security breaches.

As a Network Security Engineer, you will be tasked with providing remote support for customers and will be involved with working client change requests or troubleshooting firewall and networking issues. The environment you will be working in requires working on Fortinet and SonicWall next-generation firewalls as well as a wide variety of cutting-edge security tools and applications that support the Information Security programs at over 1,000 banks and credit unions across the United States. Daily, the engineer will assist in configuring, implementing, and managing a variety of security controls to better protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of customer information technology assets while interacting and collaborating with a team of over 20 network security engineers. Security technologies used for this position include but are not limited to Event Manager (SIEM), Firewalls, network based IPS, and other security related applications/appliances. This position will incorporate direct contact with external clients through phone and email. The salary range for this position is $57,450 - $80,000 and will be determined based on location and experience level. This is a remote position, and candidates must live within approximately a 70-mile radius of our office location in Springfield, MO.

What you'll be responsible for:

Learns network monitoring tools (routers, switches, and firewalls) against intrusions.
Learns the development of comprehensive network security policies and putting together business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
May participate in monitoring the effectiveness of security controls and compliance policies.
Ensures that changes do not affect the integrity of network security.
Cross trained on test hardware and software for potential vulnerabilities and monitors backup and disaster recovery systems.
Cross trained on coordinating incident response across teams and ensures that noncompliance issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Plans, coordinates, tests, and implements network security measures (e.g., disaster recovery)
Adheres to documented departmental and corporate standards.
May perform other duties as assigned.

What you'll need to have:

A minimum of 12 months of experience troubleshooting technical issues in such roles as: helpdesk support, desktop support, and/or network support.
Experience in providing internal or external customer service support.
Ability to stay organized and adaptable to different situations and issues that may arise.

What would be nice for you to have:

Ability to learn good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
General problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network security issues.
Ability to learn and apply hands-on experience with network monitoring and management tools.
Basic knowledge of network protocols, technologies, and standards.
Ability to learn network security concepts and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control lists.
Ability to follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations from which answers can be readily obtained.
Bachelors degree in IT or Network Security preferred.
Networking or Security certification preferred.
