Compensation: $35 - $47 hourly
Role Overview
Our organization is seeking a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to the design and implementation of data center electrical systems. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive construction document sets. The position requires a professional who can ensure designs meet quality standards and budget constraints while adhering to all relevant codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop data center electrical designs and collaborate with other disciplines to create construction document sets.
- Ensure designs meet or exceed quality requirements and fall within budgetary constraints.
- Work with local agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes.
- Review and approve equipment submittals.
- Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests during construction phases.
- Collaborate with commissioning teams to test and validate the installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
- Manage concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
- Travel to sites for reviews, engineering evaluations, electrical systems audits, and startup support as needed.
Required Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or 12+ years of relevant electrical experience.
Experience: 7+ years of experience with industrial or commercial electrical design and 9+ years of experience developing design documentation for construction or permitting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering License.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, IBC, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.
- Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
- A detailed understanding of uninterruptible power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, and automatic/static transfer switches.
- Experience with fast-track design/build projects, significant upgrade projects, or large-scale technical operations.
