Data Governance Lead
The Opportunity:

Effective data governance requires a blend of policy leadership, technical fluency, and practical collaboration. As a Data Governance Lead, you understand how to establish trusted data practices, clarify accountability, and embed governance into the platforms and workflows that mission-critical organizations rely on. We're looking for someone like you to support the implementation and operation of Databricks in AWS GovCloud.

You will lead governance activities across metadata, lineage, classification, stewardship, data quality, access, compliance, and cost accountability. You'll translate enterprise policy into clear, actionable requirements for data products, pipelines, platform services, and stakeholders. You will also guide governance working groups, data-owner decisions, and implementation teams as they build secure, interoperable, and well-managed data capabilities.

Join us and help organizations make data more trusted, discoverable, secure, and useful. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.

Work with us as we use data science and governance for good.

Join us. The world can't wait.

You Have:
  • 5+ years of experience in a data governance, data management, or information management field
  • Experience leading or implementing enterprise data governance frameworks, including policies, standards, procedures, roles, decision rights, escalation paths, and accountability models
  • Experience establishing metadata standards, business glossaries, data dictionaries, naming conventions, reference data requirements, and technical metadata practices
  • Experience defining and implementing data lineage standards across sources, transformations, pipelines, reports, models, and downstream data products
  • Experience developing data classification, sensitivity, handling, retention, archival, destruction, and disclosure requirements
  • Experience developing data-quality standards, critical data elements, quality rules, thresholds, issue-management workflows, and remediation procedures
  • Experience facilitating governance working groups, data-owner reviews, requirements workshops, architecture discussions, and stakeholder decision sessions
  • Ability to define interoperability and domain-governance requirements for shared data, interfaces, schemas, APIs, and cross-domain data exchange
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience in the development of algorithms leveraging R, Python, or SQL/NoSQL, and Distributed data and computing tools, including MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL
  • Experience with visualization packages, including Plotly, Seaborn, or ggplot2, and with supporting Databricks, Unity Catalog, or comparable modern data platforms
  • Experience leading Collibra and Databricks Unity Catalog integration, including metadata synchronization, ownership, lineage, glossary, classification, and stewardship processes
  • Experience defining governance requirements for Medallion Architecture data layers, including bronze, silver, and gold
  • Experience supporting data governance in AWS GovCloud using services such as S3, IAM, KMS, Lake Formation, Glue, CloudTrail, and Macie Experience aligning data classification, metadata, lineage, access, privacy, retention, and governance controls with an ATO package and operational policies
  • Experience defining Unity Catalog metastores, catalogs, schemas, tables, views, external locations, storage credentials, and access policies
  • Experience defining governance controls for data sharing, exports, egress, external access, cross-domain use, and sensitive-data handling
  • Experience establishing FinOps guardrails for data storage, compute, workspace usage, tagging, chargeback or showback, budget monitoring, and cost accountability
