Onsite in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD

our client seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Program Manager for Network Modernization Secure Wireless program. The role focuses on CSfC architectures, tactical networking, and lifecycle support including sustainment, development, testing, and fielding. The engineer will validate software releases, engineer test networks, evaluate emerging technologies, and produce clear technical documentation while supporting field teams. Expertise in network security, routing, wireless, and virtualization is required to ensure secure, resilient, and mission-ready capabilities.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $75.00 to $85.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Support Secure Wireless engineering efforts, including documentation and software configuration management across multiple Secure Wireless baselines.
  • Provide direct support to the Field Support Engineering team during ongoing fielding efforts via phone and email.
  • Validate quarterly PDSS software releases and support system updates.
  • Engineer and maintain test networks; develop test plans, test threads, and conduct performance testing.
  • Evaluate and test new and emerging technologies for inclusion in Secure Wireless baselines.
  • Produce step-by-step technical documentation and network diagrams using MS Visio.
  • Troubleshoot network and client access issues using logs and error messages.
  • Deliver train-the-trainer instruction to operational and field teams.

Experience Requirements:
  • Familiarity with CSfC architecture and compliance.
  • Background in WIN-T or Tactical Network Configuration Items and architecture.
  • Experience with Signal Modernization systems, including Small Form Factor Wi-Fi and SWMRE.
  • Expertise in static routing and virtualized environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS.
  • Hands-on experience with Aruba OS for wireless networking.
  • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks OS.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server and Windows 10/11.
  • Network security experience with VPN/IPSec.
  • Network security experience with PKI and Certificate Authorities.
  • Network security experience with firewalls and Active Directory.
  • NetOps tools experience with PacStar IQ Core.
  • NetOps tools experience with SolarWinds.
  • NetOps tools experience with Splunk.
  • NetOps tools experience with SNMPc.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Active Secret clearance or higher.
