**About the Role**
The AI Specialist will design, develop, and deploy artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) solutions to enhance business processes, improve decision-making, and drive innovation. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to identify use cases, gather requirements, and implement AI-powered applications. The AI Specialist will handle data preprocessing, model selection, training, validation, and deployment while staying current with the latest AI research and industry trends.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI/ML technologies in a public safety context, delivering solutions that directly support law enforcement and authorized users.
**Key Responsibilities**
AI/ML Solution Development
Design, develop, and deploy AI and ML solutions to address business and operational challenges.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify AI use cases and gather technical requirements.
Perform data preprocessing, transformation, and cleansing for AI/ML workloads.
Select, train, validate, and deploy AI/ML models using industry-standard frameworks.
Stay current with AI/ML trends, technologies, and best practices.
Public Safety Data Solutions
Develop a solution enabling law enforcement personnel to query CLEMIS data using natural language, eliminating the need for complex SQL queries.
Leverage experience with Public Safety applications (CAD, RMS, FRMS) to understand datasets and their relationships.
Initially utilize existing CLEMIS datasets, including:
People (including aliases)
Identifiers
Incidents/Offenses
Plan for future integration with RMS (Records Management System) data for predictive analysis.
Data Engineering & Cloud Deployment
Extract data from on-premises Oracle/SQL Server databases to AWS Cloud.
Transform and, if necessary, mask sensitive information (CJIS, PII).
Store data in optimized formats suitable for AI/ML workloads, e.g., Vector databases like PineCone.
Enable advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) capabilities using AWS Bedrock.
Utilize industry-standard AI models, such as Claude or AWS Titan/Nova.
Deploy and maintain the entire AI/ML solution in AWS Cloud.
**Required Skills & Qualifications**
6–15 years of professional experience in AI/ML development.
Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and experience with Oracle databases.
Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Azure.
Proficiency with data visualization tools, e.g., Tableau.
Hands-on experience with AI/ML model development, deployment, and optimization.
Experience with public safety applications (CAD, RMS, FRMS) is highly desirable.
Knowledge of data privacy and security standards (CJIS, PII).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
**Preferred Skills**
Experience with vector databases and advanced RAG implementations.
Familiarity with AI models such as Claude, AWS Titan, or AWS Nova.
Experience building enterprise AI solutions in hybrid cloud environments.
