About the Organization

Now is a great time to join Redhorse Corporation. We are a solution-driven company delivering data insights and technology solutions to customers with missions critical to U.S. national interests. We're looking for thoughtful, skilled professionals who thrive as trusted partners building technology-agnostic solutions and want to apply their talents supporting customers with difficult and important mission sets.

About the Role

Redhorse is transforming how the Department of Defense (DoD) utilizes data and technology. We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our team supporting the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition & Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)). You will play a critical role in advancing data-driven decision-making across the DoD, designing and implementing robust data solutions that directly impact national security initiatives and investments. This is a high-impact position offering significant opportunity to shape the future of DoD data management and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systems Engineering & Technical Architecture:
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring proposed solutions maintain interoperability with DoD systems and align with global standards.
  • Develop and review system documentation including diagrams, technical assessments, architecture descriptions, and design artifacts.
  • Evaluate new tools, technologies, and services; provide recommendations for adoption, improvement, and integration into DoD environments.
  • Ensure all functional and performance analysis models accurately reflect operational performance requirements.
  • Technical Advisory & Solution Development:
  • Serve as a technical advisor on systems engineering approaches, tool selection, diagnostics, and problem-solving methodologies-including the use of artificial intelligence where appropriate.
  • Consult with government and mission stakeholders to obtain, refine, and exchange complex technical information.
  • Support the development and documentation of scalable network architectures, data exchange methods, and secure integration pathways.
  • Network, Data, and Systems Integration:
  • Contribute to system designs involving network architecture, cloud storage, API-based data exchange, and cross-domain or access-denied environments.
  • Apply network capacity planning principles, network security best practices, and general systems management expertise.
  • Ensure adherence to DoD requirements including Zero Trust Architecture, access management standards, and classification handling rules.

Required Experience/Clearance

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience OR Master's degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Degree must be in Systems Engineering or a closely related field such as Modeling & Simulation Engineering.
  • Strong experience in network capacity planning, network security, and best practices for network/system management.
  • Experience designing and developing network architectures and data-exchange methods (APIs, cloud storage, secure environments).
  • Proficiency in Python programming.
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.

Familiarity with the following concepts and frameworks:
  • Data Mesh and Systems-of-Systems
  • Systems Engineering processes
  • Zero Trust Architecture
  • Access management principles
  • DoD classification and security implementation
  • Microservice architecture
