Job Details

We are seeking a hands-on Environmental Specialist to lead and drive our day-to-day environmental compliance programs. This is a "boots on the ground," plant-floor role-you will spend the majority of your time out on the shop floor conducting walk-throughs, working directly with front-line operations, and ensuring strict adherence to environmental protocols rather than sitting behind a desk.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Environmental Stewardship & Field Execution: Champion a culture of environmental compliance and active stewardship. Spend significant time on the shop floor conducting regular environmental walk-throughs, inspections, and audits.
  • Air & Waste Compliance (Core Focus): Manage complex environmental regulatory and permit requirements, with a heavy emphasis on Title V Air Permits and RCRA hazardous waste management (preferably for a Large Quantity Generator).
  • Water Management: Oversee stormwater and wastewater permitting, monitoring, and compliance activities.
  • ISO Program Management: Lead facility engagement and continuous improvement for ISO 14001 environmental management standards.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Manage all environmental record-keeping, regulatory reporting, and compliance documentation.
  • Incident Investigations & Corrective Actions: Lead environmental incident investigations, driving straight to root causes and implementing effective, long-lasting corrective actions.
  • Cross-Functional Training & Collaboration: Lead compliance training sessions, collaborate closely with operations, and serve as an active partner to site leadership on environmental initiatives.

Qualifications / Skills / Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (Preferred)
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of dedicated environmental management experience within an industrial, heavy-manufacturing setting.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep working knowledge of RCRA, Title V Air Permits, and stormwater/wastewater regulations.
  • Standards: Direct experience implementing and maintaining ISO 14001 standards.
  • Work Style: A true field-oriented professional who prefers plant-floor walk-throughs and active operations engagement over desk-bound administrative work.
