SAS Developer (100% Remote)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a SAS Developer. This role is 100% remote.

Summary:
Our financial services partner is seeking a highly seasoned SAS Developer to support and modernize mission-critical batch processing systems within their collections environment. This role focuses on analyzing mainframe files and datasets related to outstanding debt while helping guide the organization's long-term transition away from SAS to more modern technologies. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional who can operate independently in a mature environment and contribute to both system stability and modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, maintain, and optimize SAS programs that process mainframe data files
* Analyze large datasets related to outstanding debt and collections activities
* Support and monitor nightly batch processes and file-swapping operations
* Maintain reliability of daily processing pipelines
* Partner with internal teams to ensure operational continuity
* Support future migration efforts from SAS to modern platforms and languages

Create detailed process and system documentation, including:
* Data flows
* System dependencies
* File exchanges
* Business and technical stakeholders

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree preferred
* 5+ years of hands-on SAS development experience (senior-level)
* Extensive experience reading and processing mainframe files
* Strong background working with large analytical datasets
* Proven experience supporting batch processing environments
* Ability to work independently without extensive ramp-up
* Strong documentation and communication skills

Preferred/Nice-to-Have Skills:
* Experience migrating systems from SAS to modern platforms
* Background in financial services or banking environments
* Exposure to modernization initiatives
* Experience with: C#, C++, SQL Server, Oracle
* Preference for candidates with .NET or C++ experience
* Strong interest in professionals who have supported previous SAS migration efforts
* Candidates with experience transitioning to C# or modern tools are highly desirable

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
