Job Purpose

As a Firmware Development Intern, you will gain hands-on experience by participating in firmware engineering activities within the VES development group. Reporting to the Firmware Engineering Manager, you will assist in supporting cutting-edge data storage and server product designs in Colorado Springs. This internship offers the opportunity to contribute to firmware code development on BMC/SES platforms, collaborate on real-world projects, work alongside experienced firmware architects, and learn how enterprise hardware and software integrate in a production environment.

Nature of Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist firmware architects and hardware design teams with gathering early input on firmware design requirements.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of high-level and low-level design documents.
  • Participate in firmware code development, bug fixes, and unit testing under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with the project team during code reviews, hardware/firmware integration, and testing.
  • Learn and assist with debugging firmware issues (BMC/SES) to support resolving technical problems.
  • Provide regular status updates on assigned development tasks to project leads.

Education and Experience
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree (m ust be in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Foundational understanding of embedded system design concepts.
  • Familiarity with C/C++ programming and object-oriented principles.
  • Basic knowledge of various operating systems (Linux, Windows, Unix).
  • Familiarity with server/storage system architectures, BMC, or BIOS is a plus.
  • Exposure to system-level debugging, hardware/software integration, or scripting is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a eagerness to learn and collaborate in a team environment.
