Lead Software Engineer - Investment Platforms

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Lead Software Engineer - Investment Platforms in New York, NY.

Overview:
A leading global investment management firm is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to help build and enhance critical investment and operational platforms used across multiple business lines. This is a unique opportunity for a senior hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, mentoring engineers, partnering with business stakeholders, and driving delivery of high-impact platform initiatives. The role combines technical leadership with meaningful hands-on development and offers the opportunity to shape systems that support investment decision-making, data management, workflow automation, and business operations. We will also consider exceptional senior engineers.

Responsibilities:
* Lead the design and delivery of complex software platforms and distributed systems
* Drive architecture and technical design decisions across multiple initiatives
* Partner closely with product managers, business stakeholders, and engineering teams
* Mentor junior engineers and help establish engineering best practices
* Remain actively involved in software development and technical problem solving
* Build scalable APIs, backend services, and cloud-native applications
* Contribute to platform modernization, automation, and AI-enabled initiatives

REQUIREMENTS:
* 7-15+ years of software engineering experience
* Strong experience building enterprise-scale applications and distributed systems
* Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Experience designing and building APIs, microservices, and cloud-native applications
* Strong system design and architectural skills
* Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment

Preferred Experience:
* Financial services, investment management, capital markets, trading, market data, or fintech experience
* Experience supporting investment, portfolio, trading, reference data, workflow, or operational platforms
* Exposure to Order Management Systems (OMS), investment workflows, trade lifecycle processes, or related front-office technologies
* Experience leveraging AI tools and AI-assisted development practices

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, technical leadership capabilities, and domain expertise. This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who wants to remain hands-on while taking ownership of large-scale platform initiatives and working closely with both engineering and business stakeholders.

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
