Scope of Work
We are seeking a highly experienced SAP BASIS Specialist contractor to provide advanced technical support and architecture design for enterprise SAP solutions. The supported environments include ECC, CRM, BW, BusinessObjects (BOBJ), Process Orchestration (PO), Web Dispatcher, Fiori, C/4 HANA, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) – SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI), SuccessFactors, and others.
The contractor will be responsible for the administration and ongoing support of the SAP ecosystem, including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, system refreshes, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The SAP BASIS Specialist will work closely with technical teams to ensure a stable, scalable, and reliable enterprise computing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational support for the SAP ecosystem.
- Provide 24/7 on-call and after-hours support, as required.
- Lead primary SAP BASIS administration for major enterprise applications.
- Provide secondary administration support for other enterprise applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, acting as the primary point of contact.
- Work closely with analysts and technical teams to resolve system outages and performance issues.
- Schedule and coordinate SAP system installations, upgrades, patches, backups, and restorations.
- Perform OS, application, database, and client tool patching and migrations.
- Fully test patches in non-production environments before deployment; evaluate and install software patches as needed.
- Configure systems and applications technically, ensuring alignment with organizational standards.
- Ensure application availability per Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Perform system sizing and capacity planning.
- Act as vendor liaison for bug fixes and maintenance.
- Provide status updates, issues, and progress reports to management.
- Interface with business units and application users for support and troubleshooting.
- Install new application releases and version upgrades.
- Support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to the SAP platform.
- Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and inventories for SAP system administration, including architecture, backup policies, and user management.
- Provide desktop support and coordinate or deliver user training as needed.
- Evaluate software and hardware and provide technical recommendations.
- Automate tasks and streamline administrative processes in collaboration with IT and support teams.
- Coordinate application support with security, network, operations, and application development teams.
- Configure, maintain, and monitor batch jobs and scripts; resolve related errors.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation.
- Maintain fault tolerance and disaster recovery plans for SAP systems.
Mandatory Requirements
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible IT experience in SAP BASIS administration with a similar enterprise SAP environment.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience in the administration of SAP enterprise solutions, including installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, documentation, and coordination.
- In-depth knowledge of SAP system design, configuration, and functionality.
- Hands-on experience with AIX, UNIX, Linux, Windows, DB2, and MS SQL, including SAP ECC6, S/4 HANA, BW/BI, CRM, BOBJ, PO, BPC, HANA, C/4 HANA, SAP BTP, SuccessFactors, Cloud Connector, Fiori/Gateway, and Web Dispatcher.
- Experience with Solution Manager and SAP Cloud ALM.
Desirable Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience.
- Five (5) years of SAP BASIS experience supporting SAP ABAP and JAVA systems.
- Expert use of Solution Manager for monitoring and project documentation.
- Proficiency in SAP system refresh processes (native SAP and tools such as LAMA and SAP PCA).
- Administration experience for NetWeaver Java solutions (Adobe Document Services, PO, Web Dispatcher, SLD).
- Experience with SAP change management (CTS+, non-ABAP, and cloud solutions).
- SAP system administration in DB2/AIX and RHEL environments.
