Position Summary:
Our partner is a global, technology-led services organization that designs, builds, and runs enterprise-scale systems for large clients, with a strong focus on data, AI, and production-grade reliability. They are seeking a Java Backend Engineer to build and sustain backend systems that enterprise clients rely on every day to make financial and operational decisions. You will work on mature, high-volume reporting platforms that continue to evolve as data volumes grow, regulations shift, and client expectations rise. This is hands-on backend engineering inside complex systems. Accuracy, performance, and stability are not theoretical concerns here, they carry real consequences, and thoughtful changes matter because careless ones show up fast.
Experience and Education:

BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or equivalent experience/field
Experience building Java backend systems in enterprise environments
Background supporting production applications with real uptime and performance expectations
Exposure to transaction-heavy, reporting, or analytics platforms
Experience working with relational databases at scale
Time spent in regulated or compliance-driven industries such as financial services or FinTech
Experience contributing within Agile delivery teams

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend services supporting reporting and data-driven use cases
Own backend components end-to-end, including design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing production support
Safely deliver new features within live production systems
Build and maintain scalable, reliable RESTful APIs with clear data contracts, versioning, and backward compatibility
Tune Java services and optimize SQL queries to support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence needs
Work extensively with relational databases, complex data models, joins, indexes, and execution plans
Analyze and resolve production issues, including performance bottlenecks, concurrency problems, memory usage, and JVM-related issues
Support integrations with cloud data platforms
Collaborate with product, data, and frontend teams to translate business and reporting requirements into backend solutions
Ensure backend services meet performance, reliability, and scalability standards through thoughtful design and continuous improvement
Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and long-term maintainability
Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and root cause analysis
Navigate and improve large, existing codebases
Contribute to enterprise platforms used by global clients
