Summary
Role: ServiceNow Lead developer
Work location: Vermont, VA (Remote)
Type: Contract
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop ServiceNow applications, modules, and workflows across ITSM, ITOM, and related areas.
- Implement and enhance Incident, Problem, Change, Request, CMDB, and related ITSM processes.
- Configure, deploy, and optimize ServiceNow ITOM capabilities such as:
- Event Management
- Discovery / Cloud Discovery
- Integrate ServiceNow with third party tools using APIs, MID Servers, web services, and integration hubs.
- Work with product owners and architects to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Implement automation, scripting (JavaScript, Glide), UI policies, business rules, client scripts, and flows.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and best practices.
- Ensure platform stability, performance, and adherence to ServiceNow development standards.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, story sizing, and backlog refinement.
- Utilize Now Assist and AI-based features (if applicable) to optimize processes and enhance user experience.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5-8+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience.
- Strong expertise in ITSM modules (Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Knowledge, CMDB).
- Working knowledge of ITOM modules, especially:
- Event Management
- Discovery and Cloud Discovery
- Strong proficiency in:
- JavaScript (Glide scripting)
- Flow Designer & Workflow Editor
- Client/Server scripts, Script Includes, Business Rules
- Service Catalog & Request workflows
- Experience integrating ServiceNow with external systems (REST/SOAP, IntegrationHub, MID Server).
- Strong understanding of ServiceNow platform architecture and database hierarchy (tables, CMDB relationships).
- Ability to work in Agile environments and handle multi-team coordination.
Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Now Assist, Generative AI for ServiceNow, or AI-based workflows.
- Knowledge of Service Mapping, Orchestration, Discovery patterns, or Monitoring tools integrations.
- ServiceNow certifications such as:
- CSA (Certified System Administrator)
- CIS – ITSM / ITOM
- CAD (Application Developer)
