Summary

Job Title - Quality Engineer
Location - Grand Rapids, MI, 49505 (Onsite)
Shift -
 Monday – Friday | Approximately 6:00/7:00 AM – 3:30/4:30 PM
Travel required: Minimal travel may be required for occasional customer visits

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join a dynamic manufacturing environment focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement. This role is responsible for ensuring product quality, supporting manufacturing operations, driving root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to maintain compliance with quality standards and customer expectations.

The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving abilities, manufacturing quality experience, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally within a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions for product quality issues.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality concerns efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Support manufacturing operations by stopping production when necessary to prevent non-conforming products.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management System requirements and company quality standards.
  • Promote and support continuous improvement methodologies including Six Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), and Measurement System Analysis.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams supporting new product development and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in developing Design and Process FMEAs (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
  • Conduct investigations and support corrective and preventive action activities.
  • Produce detailed reports and presentations related to quality performance, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Support internal audits and quality system compliance activities.
  • Contribute to ongoing operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Undertake special projects and additional quality-related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience within a manufacturing quality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)
    • PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
    • FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
  • Experience working within regulated or certified manufacturing environments is preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Power BI experience is a plus
