  • Apply innovative thinking and problem-solving skills to address design challenges and optimize FPGA implementations.
  • Assist in developing comprehensive testbenches and verification environments for FPGA designs.
  • Ensure seamless integration of FPGA designs with other system components, supporting overall project success.
  • Develop and/or test AI/ML algorithms for implementation in embedded systems containing neuromorphic processors or AI-enabled FPGAs.
  • Summer 2027 or year-round student opportunity.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and debugging HDL (Verilog/VHDL) code based on project requirements per design specifications.
  • Assist in developing and running simulations to verify the functionality and performance of FPGA designs.
  • Use testbenches to validate code against expected outputs and performance metrics.
  • Work as part of a team to design, train, optimize, and profile custom deep learning architectures (e.g., CNNs, RNNs/Transformers, graph neural networks, or neuromorphic models) for RF signal characterization and EW countermeasure development.
  • Work as part of a team to develop, preprocess, and validate multi-sensor RF and EW datasets through synthetic generation tools, hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) lab collections, and signal processing transformations.
  • Attend design review meetings to present designs and receive feedback.
  • Assist in maintaining detailed documentation of the design process, code changes, and testing procedures.

Requirements:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree field with focus on machine learning and signal processing.
  • 0 years: Preferred coursework in Digital Logic Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, or Machine Learning.
  • Must be a current or rising Senior.
