Job Title: SQL DBA ( must have Cosmos DB & Redis)
Location: Jackson, Michigan
Work Arrangement: Hybrid — On-site Monday, Tuesday, Thursday;
Remote optional Wednesday and Friday
Description
Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, configuration, and ongoing maintenance across on? premises and cloud platforms.
Monitor database performance and proactively identify tuning opportunities, indexing strategies, and optimization improvements.
Skills:
· 5–7 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration.
· 5–7 years of experience with Azure SQL, including performance tuning, monitoring, and cloud-based database management.
· Strong understanding of database architecture, indexing, query execution plans, and performance troubleshooting.
· Experience with backup/restore strategies, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
· Proficiency with T?SQL, scripting, and automation for database operations.
· Ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues in production environments.
· Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid team environment.
· Preferred / Nice-to-Have:
· 1–3 years experience with Cosmos DB (1–2 years still considered valuable).
· 1–3 years experience with Redis as a caching platform with optional persistence (1–2 years still considered valuable).
· Familiarity with cloud-native database patterns, distributed systems, and modern data architectures.
· Experience supporting enterprise-scale applications and high-volume transactional systems.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
