Senior Extrusion Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in need of a Senior Extrusion Engineer. This role is fully onsite in Carlsbad, CA.
Relocation assistance will be offered.

Responsibilities:
* Lead design, development, fabrication, and qualification of extruded components and manufacturing equipment
* Train and mentor operators, technicians, and engineers to support process development and manufacturing excellence
* Drive improvements in stability, capability, yield, and efficiency while collaborating with suppliers and supporting Synaptic Medical manufacturing operations

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of extrusion process experience; Advanced degree preferred
* Strong foundational knowledge of plastics and polymer behavior, with the ability to apply material science principles in laboratory and manufacturing settings
* 3+ years of leadership experience in process development, preferably within medical devices or cardiovascular extruded products
* Experience working in a regulated environment; medical device experience preferred (training available)
* Ability to translate customer and clinical requirements into practical laboratory development and manufacturing solutions
* Hands-on mechanical aptitude with experience assembling, installing, and troubleshooting extrusion and related manufacturing equipment
* Solid understanding of FDA regulations, guidelines, and policy interpretation
* Effective verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal capabilities
* Ability to organize documentation, maintain records, and implement standardized procedures
* Deep expertise in polymer and materials science
* Experienced in translating performance and user/clinical requirements into effective extruded tubing solutions
* Proven process development expertise for single- and multi-lumen, multi-layer, reinforced, PTFE-lined, and multi-durometer tubing
* Skilled in balloon forming technologies and extrusion-related statistical analysis
* Hands-on experience with a wide range of materials, including polyurethane, polyolefin, PET, PEBAX, HDPE, nylon, and related copolymers
* Extensive knowledge of extrusion equipment, tooling, and systems, including pumps, dryers, ovens, unwind/rewind, vacuum tanks, pullers, cutters, and controls

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
