Cost Engineer (Brookshire)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Cost Management professional to support a large-scale, fast-paced capital project environment. This role will play a critical part in cost control, forecasting, change management, and executive reporting across a complex, multi-interface program.

Key Responsibilities:
* Execute and maintain a comprehensive cost management program, including tracking, forecasting, trending, and cost reduction initiatives
* Perform cost analysis and variance reporting against approved budgets; identify risks and recommend corrective actions
* Support project change management, including evaluation and quantification of scope, cost, and schedule impacts
* Develop and maintain detailed cost forecasts using historical data, benchmarks, and current project performance
* Track KPIs and deliver weekly and monthly cost reports and presentations to senior leadership
* Review and audit contractor invoices; coordinate with internal teams and third parties on cost tracking and invoicing
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and industry standards
* Drive continuous improvement by applying cost control best practices and emerging tools

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, Project Management, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
* 5+ years of cost management, budgeting, and forecasting experience on large-scale EPC or industrial projects
* Strong financial modeling and cost analysis skills
* Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
* Self-starter with strong prioritization and organizational skills
* Advanced Excel expertise (complex/compound formulas, data summarization)
* Experience using Power BI dashboards for executive reporting
* Ability to support change orders and budget adjustments within cost management systems
* Experience maintaining spend and drawdown curves using procurement and cost data
* Agile, flexible, and comfortable working in ambiguous environments
* Owner-side project experience strongly preferred

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
