Senior Data Scientist
Columbus, OH (Hybrid 4 Days Onsite) | Type : W2 Contract | Local Candidates Only
The Role
We're looking for a hands-on Senior Data Scientist to join a centralized Enterprise Analytics team. You'll be embedded directly in product and business teams - owning the full data lifecycle from defining what needs to be tracked, to measuring whether it worked. This is a balance of development and analysis, and the ideal candidate knows when to build and when to advise.
What You'll Do
Feature & Functional Design Define the data tracking strategy for new features - event logging, tagging requirements, third-party data ingestion, and measurement planning. Act as a consultant to the business on what data is needed now and in the future, and connect teams with data engineering and warehousing partners when new data pipelines are needed.
Feature Engineering & Development Stay embedded through execution. Support QA and launch readiness to ensure data tracking is live and accurate when features ship. Set up the measurement framework ahead of launch.
Performance Evaluation & Experimentation Own rollout tracking, run A/B tests, and deliver impact analysis. Provide an unbiased view of feature performance against original business case goals and make clear, objective recommendations for next steps.
Self-Driven Initiatives Between project cycles, pursue independent analysis - design experiments, build predictive models, run exploratory analyses, or surface new opportunities for business impact.
What You Bring
- Hands-on proficiency in Python or R (required)
- Strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of data modeling and querying
- Experience designing and evaluating A/B tests and experiments
- Ability to define data tracking requirements (event logging, Adobe tagging, etc.)
- Strong communication skills - you can translate complex findings into clear business direction
- Comfort working cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Finance, and senior leadership
- A consultative mindset - you know when to lead and when to support
Nice to Have
- Experience with digital/customer behavior data
- Familiarity with data warehousing and working alongside data engineering teams
- Background in consumer financial products or similar regulated industries
Why This Role
- Direct influence on strategic business decisions
- Embedded in product teams - not siloed in a reporting function
- Opportunity to convert to a full-time position
- Collaborative team that values both technical depth and data storytelling
