Job Description:

This Database Architect role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing enterprise grade database environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructures. To include leading modernization efforts from legacy SQL systems, define data architecture standards, and collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance data solutions.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, evaluate, and implement database management systems, including modeling, relational architecture, metadata structures, and configuration management.

Define and enforce standards, controls, documentation, and operational procedures.

Advise development teams and business stakeholders on data driven solutions, DBMS capabilities, and performance tuning.

Ensure efficient, secure, and cost effective data availability; tune queries, indexes, and server configurations.

Implement databases with strong focus on access methods, batch processing, validation, security, documentation, and statistical analysis.

Use data mapping, mining, and transformation tools to design and develop robust data pipelines.

Determine optimal storage structures and capacity planning.

Prepare system requirements, source analysis, and process design throughout implementation.

Architect and manage data across cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform) and on prem environments.

Lead legacy to cloud migration initiatives and modernization roadmaps.

Design and optimize ingestion, transformation, and integration workflows.

Partner with developers, DevOps, data engineers, and business teams to align architecture with organizational goals.

Provide guidance and leadership to junior engineers and analysts.________________________________________

Required Qualifications

Deep DBMS Expertise: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar enterprise systems.

Advanced SQL Skills: Query design, optimization, stored procedures, indexing strategies.

Data Modeling: ER modeling, normalization, schema design, and data warehouse architecture.

Hybrid Cloud Experience: Designing and managing data across on prem and cloud platforms.

NoSQL Knowledge: Experience with architecting, creating and managing NoSQL style data solutions.

ETL/ELT Mastery: Tools such as SSIS, Informatica, Azure Data Factory, Glue, or equivalent.

Security & Governance: Strong understanding of access controls, encryption, compliance, and auditability.

Performance Engineering: Query tuning, resource optimization, and workload analysis.

Integration Expertise: Secure data movement between legacy systems and cloud repositories.

Blueprint Development: Ability to create enterprise wide data architecture roadmaps.

U.S. Citizenship required.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a T5 federally adjudicated clearance

Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
