Summary

The AWMT Advice Superfamily consists of Discretionary Advice Platform, Financial Planning Journeys and Advice AI. When applying for this role, please indicate your first and second preferred areas of interest/alignment in the free form section.

Discretionary Advice Platform (DAP)

DAP Technology builds the technology that powers advice at scale-helping millions of clients make confident financial decisions through intuitive, reliable, and modern digital experiences. As the engineering arm of DAP, our teams sit at the intersection of product, design, data, and business strategy, translating complex financial needs into simple, human-centered solutions that deliver real client value. Our work spans onboarding, goal planning, money movement, and platform capabilities, supporting advisory offerings across digital, hybrid, and partner channels.

We are a mission-oriented engineering organization that takes pride in what we build by grounding in shared ownership, technical excellence, and continuous learning. As an Engineering Manager driving outcomes in a high-impact organization, you'll have the opportunity to work with the latest technology and coach and develop a great team of engineers that deliver results through hard work and know how to have fun along the way!

Financial Planning Journeys (FPJ)

Financial Planning Journeys (FPJ) is an AWM product family responsible for delivering the end-to-end Personal Advisor Services (PAS) experience-from onboarding clients into advice through ongoing financial planning and digital servicing. Operating at the intersection of advice and digital experience, FPJ enables clients and advisors to plan, manage, and evolve financial strategies across every stage of a client's life.

In FPJ, Engineering Managers lead teams that build and operate the platforms behind Vanguard's advised financial planning experience. Teams design and run cloud-native, distributed systems that power onboarding, client profiles, personalization, and financial planning at scale, while also advancing Crew Assist-Vanguard's GenAI program that embeds AI into advisor workflows to automate call summaries, surface relationship insights, and create meaningful capacity for crews.

Advice AI

A newly formed group focused on disrupting Advice with AI. Operating as a startup keen on rapid prototyping and experimentation, we are learning as we build. Driving toward an "Advisor in your Pocket" North Star, our flagship capability, Client Assist, strives to integrate conversational AI into our Digital Advisor offer using LLM context engineering with Vanguard-specific knowledge plus AI-exposed APIs/tools (user data, advice calculations, and UI components) to power a trusted, client-ready experience. As an Engineering manager in this group, you can lead us into the next frontier of how technology can power advice and coach engineers on modern AI augmented development practices and emerging patterns while influencing technical direction, architecture, and engineering standards as we evolve. Experience developing LLM-based systems and their ancillary technologies isn't required but is a plus. Examples include: LangGraph, AWS Bedrock, RAG, Arize, etc.
