Summary

Position: Senior Platform Engineer

Type- Contract

Location: Richmond, VA (Onsite)

Position Overview

We are seeking Senior Platform Engineers to join a focused team building a new, secure platform supporting both commercial and government deployments. This is a hands-on contract engagement starting immediately.

Technology Stack

AWS-based environment leveraging Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, S3, SQS, and SNS. Infrastructure as Code via Terraform. Compliance-grade security controls for secured environment deployments.

Key Responsibilities

Terraform configuration — design and implement IaC for the full infrastructure stack
Kubernetes cluster setup — provision and configure EKS clusters for secured workloads
IAM roles configuration — define and enforce least-privilege access policies across AWS services
Firewall and networking setup — configure VPCs, security groups, NACLs, and network segmentation
CI/CD pipeline establishment — build and integrate automated deployment pipelines
Collaborate closely with an existing team; deliver hands-on implementation, not advisory work

Required Qualifications

7+ years of platform/infrastructure engineering experience (exceptional candidates with 5+ years considered)
Deep expertise in designing and operating production-grade platforms
Proficient in Kubernetes — cluster management, workload deployment, networking, and security hardening
Demonstrated experience in security-focused or compliance-driven environments, including government or regulated deployments
Hands-on Terraform authoring and management at scale — not just consuming existing modules
Strong working knowledge across core AWS services (EKS, S3, SQS, SNS, IAM, VPC, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with government or FedRAMP/DoD-compliant environments
Familiarity with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, Jenkins)
Experience supporting multi-tenant or multi-environment platform architectures
AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or Security Specialty)
