Google Cloud Platform Data Engineer Lead

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Google Cloud Platform Data Lead to architect, design, and lead the migration of enterprise data platforms from on-premise systems (Teradata/Hadoop) to Google Cloud. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, and enterprise ETL modernization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement scalable, cost-effective data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).

• Design and develop reusable data engineering frameworks (ingestion, transformation, validation).

• Lead migration of Teradata/Hadoop workloads to Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, GCS, Dataflow, Dataproc).

• Translate complex ETL logic from Informatica, BTEQ, and stored procedures into modern cloud-native pipelines.

• Develop batch and streaming pipelines using Python, SQL, and Google Cloud Platform services.

• Optimize BigQuery performance (partitioning, clustering, query tuning, cost management).

• Implement data validation, governance, lineage, and cataloging using Dataplex and Data Catalog.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor engineers on Google Cloud Platform best practices.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering.

• Strong experience designing reusable data engineering frameworks.

• Hands-on expertise with:

  • Teradata (BTEQ, TPT, FastLoad, MultiLoad, Stored Procedures)

  • OR Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, YARN, Hive, PySpark)

  • Informatica PowerCenter

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services:

  • BigQuery (modeling, tuning, cost optimization)

  • GCS, Dataflow, Dataproc

  • Cloud Composer (Airflow)

  • Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions

  • Dataplex & Data Catalog

• Expert-level SQL skills and strong Python programming.

• Experience with BigQuery Migration Service or Database Migration Service.

• Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and data modeling.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven experience leading large-scale on-prem to Google Cloud Platform migrations.

• Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer Certification (plus).
