Data Center Services Technician This is an opportunity for a Data Center Services Technician supporting hyperscale and enterprise data center environments. The role focuses on data center infrastructure, rack-and-stack, structured cabling, copper and fiber, equipment provisioning, testing, power distribution, and operational support. This is a Contractopportunity for technicians with experience in data center operations, telecommunications, structured cabling, field services, or IT infrastructure.
This is a great opportunity for a hands-on technician who wants to build and expand their experience in modern data center environments. You'll work independently on standard deployment and operational activities while gaining exposure to servers, networking equipment, fiber and copper infrastructure, power systems, OOB management, testing, and equipment replacement. The role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced technical teams, develop strong data center skills, and take ownership of assigned work while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and customer service.
Contract Duration: [12 months] Required Skills & Experience - 1+ years of experience in data center operations, structured cabling, telecommunications, field services, or IT infrastructure support.
- Hands-on experience with rack-and-stack activities, equipment installation, and data center infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of servers, networking equipment, racks, power distribution systems, and structured cabling.
- Experience working with both copper and fiber cabling.
- Basic understanding of optical networking and fiber testing/verification.
- Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, installation documentation, and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
- Experience performing equipment installation, cabling, testing, and provisioning with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a physically active data center environment.
Desired Skills & Experience - Technical certification, vocational training, or equivalent technical experience.
- Experience with PDU installation and power connectivity.
- Experience with Out-of-Band (OOB) management connections.
- Experience performing MACD (Moves, Adds, Changes, Disconnects) activities.
- Experience with FRU (Field-Replaceable Unit) replacements.
- Experience with continuity testing, fiber verification, and equipment turn-up.
- Experience maintaining installation records, test results, inventory, and as-built documentation.
- Experience working with customers, vendors, project teams, and senior technicians.
- Ability to work on ladders or elevated work platforms while following applicable safety requirements.
What You Will Be Doing - Install and deploy servers, network devices, storage equipment, and related data center infrastructure.
- Perform rack-and-stack activities according to engineering designs and installation documentation.
- Install, route, terminate, label, and dress copper and fiber cabling.
- Install rack PDUs and connect equipment to designated power sources.
- Perform equipment provisioning and hardware component installation.
- Establish and verify OOB management connections.
- Perform basic continuity testing, fiber verification, and equipment turn-up procedures.
- Execute MACD activities and standard FRU replacements.
- Maintain accurate installation records, test results, inventory information, and as-built documentation.
- Identify and escalate design concerns, operational issues, and safety risks.
- Collaborate with technicians, project teams, vendors, and customers while independently managing assigned tasks.
- Follow all applicable data center safety, installation, and quality standards.
