Staff Test Engineer - Product Development
About the Role
As a Staff Test Engineer in our Product Development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cost-effective methods for testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment throughout all phases of product development and manufacturing. With minimal oversight, you will direct the preparation of test and diagnostic programs, design advanced test fixtures and equipment, and develop comprehensive specifications and procedures for new products. You will independently manage labor, schedules, and equipment requirements for testing and evaluating both standard and specialized devices, while providing technical leadership to cross-functional teams and mentoring junior engineers.

Staff Test Engineer - Product Development
About the Role
As a Staff Test Engineer in our Product Development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cost-effective methods for testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment throughout all phases of product development and manufacturing. Key Responsibilities
The Test Development Engineer's primary function is to develop hardware, software, and systems for production test and calibration of MEMS technologies, including wafer-level solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop test fixtures/hardware and printed circuit boards to support device test and calibration.
- Develop test and calibration software, commonly using .Net, NI LabVIEW / TestStand, and/or C#.
- Utilize custom designed test systems and/or industry standard ATEs for device test and characterization.
- Work with Design, Product, Applications and Marketing Engineers to determine test and calibration requirements.
- Collaborate with a multifunctional and multi-site international team to support device test, characterization, and qualification for new product releases
Must Have Skills
- Test Strategy Development: Advanced ability to architect comprehensive test strategies that thoroughly validate product functionality against specifications, with expertise in developing innovative test methodologies that optimize coverage, time, and cost.
- Advanced Diagnostic Systems: Deep expertise in creating and executing sophisticated diagnostic programs to identify complex product defects and performance issues, with ability to design approaches for challenging test scenarios.
- Test Fixtures Design: Significant experience designing and developing complex test fixtures and equipment that accurately measure product parameters under varied conditions, with attention to manufacturing efficiency.
- Standard Development: Expertise in defining robust test setups and writing comprehensive procedures that establish testing standards across multiple product lines, ensuring consistent approaches and results.
- Resource Management: Strong capability in directing resource strategies for testing activities across multiple projects, including optimizing schedules and equipment allocation for maximum efficiency.
- Technical Leadership: Demonstrated expertise in resolving complex technical problems in systems and equipment, including ability to guide cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Quality System Development: Comprehensive knowledge of quality standards with proven ability to implement and improve testing processes that exceed quality requirements and industry benchmarks.
- Qualification Leadership: Thorough understanding of qualification testing methodologies and proven ability to lead qualification efforts for multiple product lines while anticipating market needs.
- Software Development: Interest and expertise in software development, including object-oriented development skills.
- Advanced PCB Design: Advanced technical knowledge of PCB design principles and demonstrated ability to design complex boards for test setups and evaluation purposes across diverse applications.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with MEMS devices or other inertial sensors
- Experience with wafer-level test solutions
- Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience in test engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers.
