A bit about us:

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support heavy civil infrastructure projects, including transportation, utilities, and design-build work. This role functions as a key link between the field, project management, and design teams, with responsibility for project coordination, cost tracking, subcontract management, and technical support.

This is not an entry-level role. The ideal candidate brings prior experience in civil construction and can operate with a high level of independence across multiple project functions.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support project execution from preconstruction through closeout on heavy civil projects
  • Coordinate with design teams to resolve constructability issues, utility conflicts, and design clarifications
  • Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Track quantities, production, and costs to ensure alignment with project budgets and schedules
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, including scope, performance, and cost tracking
  • Participate in project meetings with owners, engineers, and internal stakeholders
  • Assist with scheduling, procurement, and project controls
  • Support QA/QC processes and ensure work aligns with project plans and specifications
  • Contribute to value engineering efforts to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication between field operations and office teams

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 8-15+ years of experience in heavy civil construction or related infrastructure projects
  • Experience working on DOT, transportation, utilities, or site development projects
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, project controls, and field operations
  • Experience with design-build projects is preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across field, design, and client teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively working toward licensure
  • Background in both design and construction environments
  • Experience coordinating with public agencies (e.g., DOT, municipalities, utilities)
  • Familiarity with cost tracking, scheduling tools, and project management systems
