Design Engineer, Agricultural Equipment

About the Role
This role is with an established manufacturer of agricultural equipment, focused on designing and redesigning components for large ag equipment, including feed mixers for livestock. The Design Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and works on a project basis using Creo to develop and evaluate product designs based on customer needs, manufacturability, cost, and safety.
Schedule
Full-time, on-site in Brodhead, Wisconsin.
Compensation
$75,000 to $100,000 annually, depending on experience.
What You\'ll Do
The Design Engineer designs and redesigns feed mixers and other large agricultural equipment components, developing and evaluating product designs based on customer needs, manufacturability, cost, and safety. This person develops design specifications in collaboration with product management, sales and marketing, manufacturing, product development, applications testing, and customers for assigned projects, and develops test plans while directing testing with test personnel. The role sets product quality and tolerance specifications, and designs or selects hydraulic, power transmission, and structural components for new and existing equipment.
The Design Engineer works with manufacturing to develop tooling and new manufacturing processes as needed, and builds deep product knowledge by attending trade shows, engaging directly with customers, and monitoring competitor products and industry trends. This person also stays current on new technologies and competitive equipment in the agricultural equipment industry and shares relevant findings with company personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor\'s degree in Agricultural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 1+ year of experience designing agricultural or heavy mobile equipment (internship experience counts)
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software, Creo preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of metal fabrication, machining, and welding
- Background in farming or hands-on agricultural equipment experience
- Experience designing hydraulic or power transmission systems
