Linux Systems Architect
12 Months Contract
Location: San Diego, CA (On-sites)
What You ll Do
Work closely with engineers and technicians in a hands-on lab environment
Advise on the integration of emerging industry technologies into program systems
Implement engineering changes and system updates as required
Review, analyze, and incorporate technical requirements into end-to-end system architectures
Complete network configurations and coordinate efforts with peers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and government engineers
Support program objectives through collaboration across technical teams
Travel up to 10% as required
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Science, Engineering, or a related discipline with 5+ years of STEM experience
An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor s degree
Advanced, in-depth technical knowledge of Red Hat and/or other Linux operating systems
Experience working with Splunk
Knowledge of STIGs and STIG implementation
DNS experience, specifically Linux BIND
Scripting or programming experience (e.g., Bash/Shell, Ansible, Python)
Ability to work full-time on site at the San Diego Spectrum Center campus
Ability to travel approximately 10%
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with imaging, backup, and restore tools and scripting (e.g., Clonezilla, Linux dump)
Experience leading or managing internal programs and delegating tasks to engineering teams
Experience with container technologies (Docker, Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes)
Strong experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V, RH-V)
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and provide milestone-based progress updates
Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to process and technology improvements
Ability to support a flexible work schedule (2nd shift, RDO Fridays, and occasional weekends as needed)
Basic to advanced knowledge of networking concepts and systems, including iSCSI connectivity
Experience designing, implementing, and sustaining Linux/Unix systems
Experience designing, implementing, and sustaining containerization technologies
