This position will be based in California and will primarily support local clients in the utility, municipality, and independent power producer (IPP) space to support the demands of aging infrastructure, load growth, data center developments, and emerging technologies.

Opportunities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Supporting structural design of new greenfield and existing upgrade projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are led by project managers.
  • Performing rigid bus analysis and the design of electrical substation steel structures, equipment foundations, structure foundations, and secondary oil containment.
  • Performing seismic design in the state of California and providing seismic qualification support
  • Providing engineering support for our clients during construction.
  • Performing field observations and recording compliance documentation.
  • Excelling in team environments and leading a team of single- or multi-discipline professionals to ensure project success.
  • Presenting designs and proposals to clients, permitting authorities, public interest groups, etc.
  • Corresponding and/or meeting with clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Participating in project proposal efforts.
  • Training and mentoring less experienced engineers in their technical and professional development.
  • Performing quality control reviews and responsible for QA/QC process adherence.
  • Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Thinking creatively to address the complex challenges faced by the largest utilities and developers in North America.

Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a directly related field from an ABET-accredited program, plus a minimum of 3 years of structural engineering experience.
  • FE licensure required and CA PE licensure preferred.

Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in each of the following:
  • Standard structural engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Structural analysis programs, RISA 3D, RISA FDN, HILTI, MFAD, RAM Connection, STAAD Pro, ETABS.
  • CAD programs, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Revit.
  • Performing rigid bus analysis and the design of electrical substation steel structures, equipment foundations, structure foundations, and secondary oil containment.
  • Performing design and analysis in the state of California, adhering to seismic requirements and IEEE 693 seismic qualifications
  • Performing field inspections and compliance documentation.
  • Leading a team of single- or multi-disciplinary professionals to ensure project success.
  • Familiarity with ASCE 7, ASCE 113, and CBC
  • Alternatively, the employer will also accept a Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a directly related field from an ABET-accredited program, plus a minimum of 2 years of structural engineering experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, plus a minimum of 3 years of previously described experience.

Compensation

$110,000.00-160,000.00 Yearly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
