Summary

Description

Role Overview: The University is committed to ensuring that all students, faculty, and staff can fully use the digital tools and technologies required for learning, teaching, research, and everyday operations. The IT Accessibility Analyst plays a key role in supporting that mission by reviewing technology purchases, identifying accessibility issues, and helping departments choose tools that meet accessibility standards. This role is part of the University's IT procurement process, meaning your evaluations directly shape what technology the institution approves and adopts. What you will do: As the IT Accessibility Analyst, you are responsible for making sure new digital tools and software purchased by the University are accessible and inclusive. You do this by reviewing vendor documentation, testing products where needed, identifying accessibility risks, and making written recommendations that guide purchasing decisions. Your work ensures the University stays compliant with federal/state accessibility requirements and upholds its internal accessibility policies-while helping departments choose tools that work for everyone. On a day to day basis, you will be responsible for: - Evaluate all incoming technology requests submitted through the IT Purchasing Portal-including enterprise systems, SaaS platforms, academic technologies, administrative applications, and tools used across campus-to determine whether each product meets accessibility expectations before approval. - Analyze vendor accessibility documentation-reviewing VPATs/ACRs, comparing claims to accessibility requirements, identifying gaps or inconsistencies, and requesting clarifications from vendors as needed. - Apply WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA, ADA Title II, Section 508, and University policies to assess whether products meet required accessibility criteria, pose compliance or usability risks, or require vendor remediation, ensuring established standards-not new policy-are consistently applied. - Prepare formal written recommendations that summarize identified barriers, assess the severity of issues, outline required remediation, and determine whether products should be approved, conditionally approved, or reconsidered. - Provide guidance to campus departments by explaining accessibility requirements, clarifying review outcomes, recommending alternative solutions, and helping them understand how to choose more accessible technologies. - Maintain organized, audit-ready records of all reviews, update a repository of previously evaluated technologies, track vendor patterns and recurring risks, and support accessibility reporting for leadership.
