Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Google Cloud Platform Cloud Migration Architect to lead enterprise-scale cloud migration initiatives. The ideal candidate will drive application placement and migration strategies with a primary focus on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) while evaluating AWS and on-premises Private Cloud environments.

This role will lead the migration lifecycle from infrastructure/application discovery and assessment through target-state architecture, migration planning, and establishment of a scalable Migration Factory.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead infrastructure and application discovery, including right-sizing, storage optimization, licensing analysis, and application dependency mapping.
• Develop Google Cloud Platform Cloud Foundation Reference Architecture and Best Practices and perform gap analysis against existing client foundations.
• Define target-state application architectures covering compute, storage, networking, IAM, logging, HA, and DR.
• Design and implement a scalable, wave-based Cloud Migration Factory, including Pod/Squad operating models, governance, and execution processes.
• Develop CloudOps, FinOps, and SecOps (xOps) operating models and governance frameworks.
• Perform cloud application placement assessments across Google Cloud Platform, AWS, and Private Cloud.
• Develop migration roadmaps, wave plans, technical architecture documents, and implementation strategies.
• Design DevSecFinOps CI/CD pipelines using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for automated environment provisioning.
• Drive automation for VM and container migrations.
• Develop macro-level cloud cost estimates, pricing models, and financial governance strategies.
• Leverage Google Cloud RAMP and other cloud adoption/migration methodologies where applicable.
• Integrate AI-driven testing and validation frameworks to continuously validate application functionality throughout migration.
• Partner with engineering, infrastructure, security, application, and business stakeholders to ensure successful migration execution.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in enterprise software engineering, technology delivery, cloud infrastructure, and architecture.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) and cloud-native services, including:
  • Compute Engine
  • Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
  • Cloud Storage
  • VPC
  • IAM
  • Cloud SQL
  • Spanner
• Strong understanding of multi-cloud architecture, particularly application placement across Google Cloud Platform and AWS.
• Proven experience with enterprise cloud migration and modernization programs.
• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Experience designing CI/CD, DevSecOps/DevSecFinOps pipelines and cloud automation.
• Experience with VM and container migration strategies.
• Experience developing cloud migration roadmaps, target-state architectures, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Strong understanding of CloudOps, FinOps, SecOps, HA, DR, networking, IAM, and cloud governance.
• Experience with AI-driven testing/validation frameworks is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder-management, and technical leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Google Professional Cloud Architect certification.
• Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer certification.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or equivalent multi-cloud certification.
• Experience with enterprise-scale Migration Factory / Cloud Transformation programs.
• Experience working with large global organizations and complex hybrid/multi-cloud environments.

Important Location Requirement

Austin, TX local candidates are strongly preferred. Candidates outside Austin must be willing and able to travel to Austin and work onsite at least 3 days per week.
