Position Title: Lead / Principal SAP S/4HANA FICO Tax & Data Transformation Consultant
Experience needed: 15-20 years
Position Type: Hybrid (Onsite + Remote) - Omaha, NE

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the lead SAP FICO Tax and Data Transformation subject matter expert anchoring the S/4HANA modernization and data lake initiative
• Facilitate discovery workshops, stakeholder interviews, and current-state process mapping engagements with Tax, Finance, and Data Engineering teams
• Thoroughly deconstruct and document all Alteryx-based tax workflows, capturing data inputs, transformation steps, calculation logic, and output formats
• Establish detailed mappings between Alteryx workflow logic and the underlying SAP S/4HANA FICO tables and fields, ensuring a clear understanding of source data structures and relationships
• Configure and maintain SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC) to govern e-invoicing, e-document, and statutory reporting obligations across the US, Canada, and Mexico, ensuring timely submissions to tax authorities and seamless S/4HANA integration
• Convert workflow logic into structured transformation rules for data ingestion and processing within the enterprise data lake environment
• Design and document the target-state data model within the enterprise data lake, aligned to tax and FICO reporting requirements
• Collaborate closely with Tax and Data Engineering teams to validate logic and confirm the accuracy and completeness of the migrated data model
• Identify SAP customizations necessitated by the ECC-to-S/4 migration that must be reflected in the data model or enterprise data lake environment
• Translate business requirements into SAP functional specifications and configuration documentation for tax-related S/4HANA settings
• Work alongside ABAP developers and data engineers to systematically retire Alteryx workflows, Z-programs, and custom tables in favor of standard SAP functionality and enterprise data lake pipelines
• Develop documentation and training materials, and facilitate knowledge transfer sessions for Tax and Finance teams
• Serve as a trusted advisor on SAP tax best practices within a multi-entity construction and engineering environment

Required Qualifications

Experience

• 15+ years of SAP functional consulting experience with deep specialization in SAP FICO, concentrated in direct and indirect tax
• At least 3 full-lifecycle SAP implementations, including a minimum of 2 greenfield S/4HANA deployments
• Hands-on SAP tax configuration experience spanning tax codes, jurisdiction codes, withholding tax (1099/T5018), sales and use tax determination, and tax reporting
• Proven experience analyzing and migrating data workflows from platforms such as Alteryx, KNIME, or comparable ETL and data transformation tools into enterprise data lake or data warehouse environments
• Demonstrated ability to lead discovery phases, diagnose business pain points, and develop solution proposals for senior and executive audiences
• Experience on SAP ECC-to-S/4HANA migration projects, with specific knowledge of data model changes affecting FICO tax tables including ACDOCA, BSET, and WITH_ITEM

Technical Skills

• Expert-level command of SAP S/4HANA Finance (FICO) with tax specialization, encompassing the Universal Journal (ACDOCA), tax line item tables, and GL/AR/AP tax-relevant postings
• Strong working knowledge of Alteryx workflow design including data sources, joins, filters, formulas, summarization, and output tools sufficient to fully deconstruct and document existing tax workflows
• Hands-on experience configuring, testing, and deploying SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC) for statutory compliance reporting across the US, Canada, and Mexico
• Proficiency in data modeling for enterprise data lakes and data warehouses, including dimensional modeling, data lineage tracking, and transformation rule documentation
• Familiarity with SAP CDS views, embedded analytics, and Fiori app deployment for tax and finance reporting
• Working knowledge of third-party tax engines including Vertex and Sabrix/Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE and their integration with SAP
• SAP S/4HANA Finance certification is preferred
• Grounding in SAP Activate methodology and Fit-to-Standard workshop facilitation

Functional & Domain Knowledge

• Comprehensive understanding of corporate tax operations, spanning direct tax (federal, state, and local income tax provisioning and compliance), indirect tax (sales/use tax and VAT), withholding tax (1099 and T5018), and multi-jurisdictional tax reporting
• Background in construction, engineering, or capital-intensive industries with complex, multi-entity organizational structures is strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of tax data flows within SAP, from transaction posting through tax determination, reporting, and filing
• Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and auditability requirements specific to tax compliance data
• Demonstrated ability to bridge the gap between tax and finance business teams and data engineering and platform teams
