What will your day look like? As a Data Scientist, you will:
Design, prototype, and operationalize AI and machine learning models using Python, Databricks, and MLflow to support veterinary healthcare applications.
Apply machine learning and advanced analytics to both structured and unstructured clinical data, including EMR records, diagnostic imaging, and pathology results.
Develop predictive models for disease risk stratification, prognosis, and treatment outcome prediction.
Build and refine NLP and computer vision pipelines to automate interpretation of veterinary radiology and pathology reports.
Collaborate closely with veterinary subject matter experts to translate clinical questions into reproducible, scalable data science workflows.
Develop explainable AI (XAI) models that support clinical decision-making and build trust in automated recommendations.
Partner with data engineers to implement scalable data ingestion, transformation, and processing pipelines on Databricks.
Apply retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embedding-based search, and hybrid reasoning techniques to ground generative AI outputs in authoritative clinical data.
Utilize prompt engineering strategies and declarative prompting frameworks (e.g., DSPy) to improve generative model performance and reliability.
Participate in agile development cycles while maintaining strong documentation, experiment traceability, and responsible AI practices.
You will be a good fit for the Data Scientist role if you have:
5+ years of experience developing ML/AI solutions using Python (Pandas, PySpark, scikit-learn, MLflow).
Hands-on experience with Databricks and large, distributed datasets.
Strong background in supervised and unsupervised learning, NLP, computer vision, or generative AI.
Experience working with healthcare, life sciences, or diagnostic datasets (EMRs, radiology, pathology preferred).
Knowledge of deep learning approaches including CNNs, transformers, vision-language models (VLMs), and advanced NER techniques.
Experience developing AI agents or agentic workflows using modern LLM frameworks.
Demonstrated mastery of prompt engineering techniques including prompt tuning, self-reflection, chain-of-thought reasoning, and declarative prompting.
Strong statistical foundation with experience in classification models such as decision trees, logistic regression, random forests, SVMs, and neural networks.
Ability to interpret clinical or biological data and communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Highly collaborative, organized, and comfortable working across teams while documenting and validating complex AI solutions.
