Job Description

The Undersea Systems Division (USD) at Leidos currently has an opening for a Simulation Engineer to work in our San Diego, CA office. The USD operates at the leading edge of technology by designing, demonstrating, and deploying solutions to solve complex remote sensing problems for our Department of Defense customers. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to system development and to gain experience for an individual with interest in maritime remote sensing, physics, sensors, system prototyping, algorithm and software development, statistics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Our focus is to develop capabilities and deployable prototypes and transition those to our Defense business segment.

Primary Responsibilities.

The candidate shall perform:

  • Design, develop, evaluate, validate, verify, analyze multi-domain system of systems simulations.

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable codes and models

  • Collaborate with teams of engineers and developers, participating in regular code reviews

  • Perform integration testing as well as collaborating with other internal teams

  • Communicate with project customers or end users to fully understand, plan, and implement feedback and feature requests

Basic Qualifications.

  • ship is required. Ability to obtain a TS clearance required.
  • Bachelor's with 5+ years of experience or Master's with 1-3 years of experience.

  • Must have a degree in Physics, Aerospace, or a related field

  • Experience with system of systems modeling and simulation

Preferred Qualifications.

  • Working knowledge of MATLAB, C/C++, Python

  • Knowledge of Scrum/Agile development framework.

  • Experience with implementing and maintaining unit testing.

  • Proficiency with Git or comparable version control system.

  • Strong math and numerical analysis background

  • Knowledgeable/background in astrodynamics

  • Experience in GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control) algorithms and theory.

  • Knowledge of detection, tracking, and discrimination algorithms
  • Experience with orbital mechanics and/or astrodynamics desirable.
