Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Specialty Software Engineer to consult on complex initiatives, provide technical leadership, and drive financial accountability within our technology organization. This role involves optimizing cloud spend, improving forecasting, and embedding cost accountability into engineering workflows. The successful candidate will leverage automation and AI-assisted insights to reduce technology spend at scale while collaborating closely with Architecture, Engineering, and Finance teams.
Responsibilities: - Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Specialty Software Engineering.
- Review and analyze multi-faceted, larger-scale, or longer-term engineering challenges requiring in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
- Contribute to resolving complex situations while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Drive financial accountability and optimize cloud spend across the organization.
- Implement tagging, allocation, and governance standards at scale.
- Integrate cost controls into engineering pipelines and operational processes.
- Create dashboards and present insights to executives and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Finance and CTO teams to establish a new FinOps function.
Qualifications: - 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience or equivalent through work, consulting, training, or education.
- 6-10 years of experience in cloud platform or infrastructure engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Azure and Google Cloud Platform cost management, billing models, and optimization.
- Proven FinOps experience delivering application-level cost visibility, allocation, and chargeback.
- Strong automation and engineering capabilities, including scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent).
- Experience with AI-assisted FinOps automation for cost insights and remediation actions.
- Ability to translate technical cost drivers into business impact effectively.
- Experience managing and optimizing on-prem or hybrid infrastructure costs.
Desired Qualifications: - Experience operating FinOps in large-scale or multi-cloud environments.
- Kubernetes or container cost optimization experience.
- Familiarity with third-party FinOps or cloud cost management platforms.
- FinOps Foundation certification or demonstrated applied FinOps maturity.
- Experience embedding cost as a non-functional requirement in architecture and design reviews.

Pay Range: $60 - $70 /hr on W2
