Overview
We are looking for a Field Testing Engineer with hands-on experience in wireless device testing, field tools, and telecom technologies. This role involves traveling to test sites, running test cases, analyzing results, and supporting device performance improvements. This is a fully onsite role with regular driving to different network locations.
Responsibilities
Run field and mobility (drive) test cases for new software builds and device features.
Prepare devices for field testing, including loading software and configuring test tools.
Create or update test routes based on network changes and new features.
Identify, log, and report defects found during testing.
Share detailed daily test results with the engineering team.
Troubleshoot issues related to hardware, software, and embedded systems.
Perform device testing such as:
sanity tests
stability tests
functional tests
stress tests
feature validation
Conduct lab testing and evaluate new wireless products and accessories.
Analyze field logs and prepare clear engineering reports.
Work closely with team members and follow defined test procedures.
Design, maintain, and run test scripts using Python or JavaScript.
Use AI/ML tools and APIs when required for data analysis or automation.
Travel up to 30% for field testing activities.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
3-7+ years of experience in telecom or technical engineering roles.
Hands-on experience with field test tools such as QXDM, QCAT, TEMS, Nemo, or similar.
Good understanding of wireless technologies like CDMA, EVDO, LTE, and 5G NR.
Experience with log analysis tools such as WindCatcher, Actix, or XCAL/XCAP-M.
Previous experience with phone/device testing.
Comfortable working with Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
Experience with Spirent/Metrico tools (NOMAD, MUSE, Datum) is a plus.
Experience running FIT test plans for major US carriers is preferred.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
