Minimum Requirements

  • Professional Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist by the California Behavioral Science Board.
  • Master''s level degree required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children, and minimum one year of clinical experience for LCSW.
  • A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English and other predominant language of the population served preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Direct experience with short-term problem-solving treatment (MHIP), cognitive-behavioral therapy, crisis intervention, brief psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, group therapy, child therapy, substance abuse treatment, and behavior modification.
  • Ability to work with the elderly, disabled, and other disadvantaged populations.
  • Good teamwork skills. Able to motivate and mentor staff.
  • Innovative and self-motivated.
  • Good organizational skills. Good ability to prioritize goals and responsibilities.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to assess patient progress at every session.
  • Ability to utilize/access the computer EPIC system to document assessment and progress notes.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Will require travel to sites/programs and special functions.

Environmental Conditions Critical to Performance

  • Performs work in an office environment, climate-controlled through central air conditioning.
  • Will have exposure to outside environments while travelling.

Essential Job Functions

  • Evaluates data and develops an individualized care plan to provide maximum benefit for all concerned. Oversees the implementation of the plan(s) and performs reassessments, as needed.
  • Coordinates referrals with medical providers and other staff.
  • Interviews patient and family members; prepares psychosocial assessments, addressing all pertinent issues of participants.
  • Educates and assists patients/family in understanding and adjusting to the diagnosis/disability, treatment plan, and medical recommendations.
  • Refers patient to appropriate hospital services (specialty clinics, child life, etc.) and community agencies (schools, Regional centers, Medical/CCS, etc.) as appropriate, assisting patient/family in utilizing such services.
  • Provide age-appropriate and culturally sensitive counseling and individual/family treatment, as well as assistance in family life crisis situations.
  • Educates and updates interdisciplinary team, including residents in the continuity clinic, on psychosocial issues.
  • Prepares and maintains all pertinent records, statistics, and progress notes.
  • Assist in the development of various program curricula (Injury Prevention, Reach Out, etc.)
  • Performs other duties assigned.
