Description: Reliability Engineer - Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Biomedical Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years of experience.
  • At least 3 years of R&D experience focused on new product reliability engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or optical design principles.
  • Experience applying reliability engineering methods, including:
    • Basic statistical analysis
    • Stress testing and reliability assessment
    • Tolerancing, measurement science, and simulation
  • Familiarity with GMP/QSR regulations in the medical device industry.
  • Working knowledge of embedded systems, CAN bus, and Ethernet communication protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation and programming tools such as LabView, Python, and R.
  • Experience with fixturing, lab testing methods, robotics, and/or equipment validation.
  • Demonstrated learning agility and ability to quickly master new technologies.


Role Overview

The Reliability Engineer will provide end-to-end characterization and V&V compliance support on-site at the main engineering campus. This role partners closely with NPI teams to ensure robust product development, reliability, and compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities
1. Plan & Execute Test Strategy
  • Collaborate with NPI teams to identify and execute key pre-verification characterization tests and reliability activities.
  • Develop and execute automated test scripts, LabView programs, robotic programs, HALT/ALT, environmental, transportation, life testing, PCBA stress screening, engineering tests, and V&V activities.
  • Deliver testing on schedule and provide continuous feedback to design teams for iterative improvements.
2. Coordinate Test Strategy with Internal & External Labs
  • Work with internal and external labs to ensure timely, cost-effective testing.
  • Partner with product design engineers to achieve high-value results aligned with quality system requirements.
3. Methods & Facilities
  • Review and critique product designs, processes, and test plans with a focus on reliability, quality, and compliance.
  • Apply statistical analysis, simulation, stress testing, and reliability assessment to support Design for Reliability objectives.
4. Documentation & Design Control
  • Collaborate with design control teams to drive corrective actions related to design, assembly, suppliers, or production.
  • Produce RCR reports and ensure all verification and validation activities are scientifically sound, compliant, and fully documented.
5. Lab Processes, Maintenance & Equipment Calibration
  • Ensure compliance with quality system processes related to reliability labs.
  • Support equipment handling, calibration, and GMP practices.
  • Maintain adherence to all site-specific HSE requirements, including laser lab safety.


Deliverables

Depending on project needs, the engineer will deliver:
  • Baseline characterization of six units.
  • Full characterization testing of six units, including OEM modules (e.g., LCD, cart, SBC, LEB).
  • Reliability characterization test procedures and reports.
  • Reliability analysis reports for critical components.
