Job Title: Senior Python / Java Developer - AI Components for Insurance

Location: Remote with 25% travel

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Python / Java Developer with proven experience building AI components for the insurance industry. You will design, build, and deploy production-grade AI services that power our core insurance workflows — from underwriting and claims automation to fraud detection and document intelligence.

This is not a research role. We need someone who can take AI models from prototype to scalable, compliant, production systems in Java and Python.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop backend services and AI components in Python and Java (Spring Boot)

Build and maintain ML pipelines: data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and deployment

Deploy and monitor models using MLOps best practices - Docker, Kubernetes, MLflow, CI/CD

Develop APIs (REST/gRPC) for AI services to be consumed by underwriting and claims applications

Work with data science team to productionize models using LLMs, NLP, and predictive analytics

Ensure solutions meet insurance compliance, explainability, and audit requirements (e.g., model governance, bias testing, PII/PHI handling)

Optimize for performance, scalability, and cost in a cloud environment (AWS / Azure / Google Cloud Platform)

Core Tech Stack

Languages: Python 3.9+, Java 11/17+

AI/ML: Scikit-learn, PyTorch / TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, spaCy, OpenAI / Bedrock APIs

Data: SQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Kafka / Kinesis, Spark

Backend & Cloud: Spring Boot, FastAPI, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS (SageMaker, Lambda, S3) or Azure equivalent

MLOps: MLflow, Airflow, Git, Jenkins / GitHub Actions

Required Qualifications

5+ years of professional software development with both Python and Java

2+ years building and deploying AI/ML components in production - not just notebooks

Direct experience in the Insurance sector - P&C, Life, or Health. You understand terms like FNOL, ACORD, UW, loss ratio, and subrogation

Hands-on experience with NLP / Document AI / LLMs for unstructured insurance documents

Strong experience building scalable REST APIs and microservices

Experience with cloud-native development and containerization

Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
