Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Developer DBA with strong hands-on expertise in database development, administration, and migration, particularly migrating Oracle and SQL Server databases to PostgreSQL.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with AWS PostgreSQL environments, database migration tools, PL/pgSQL development, performance tuning, automation, and production cutovers. This role requires someone who can work across both development and DBA responsibilities and support end-to-end database migration initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, administer, and support PostgreSQL databases in enterprise environments.
• Lead and support Oracle/SQL Server to PostgreSQL database migrations.
• Perform database schema conversion, stored procedure remediation, functions, triggers, and PL/pgSQL development.
• Work with AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Amazon RDS PostgreSQL.
• Use AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) for database migration and replication.
• Configure and manage AWS DMS Full Load and Change Data Capture (CDC) processes.
• Analyze and optimize SQL queries, indexes, database configurations, and overall database performance.
• Support migration validation, data reconciliation, production cutovers, and post-migration hypercare.
• Develop and maintain database infrastructure using Terraform / Infrastructure as Code.
• Automate database provisioning, configuration, deployment, and operational processes.
• Integrate database deployment processes with CI/CD pipelines.
• Work with Flyway for database versioning and schema migration automation.
• Implement PostgreSQL security, roles, permissions, and RBAC.
• Manage backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery processes.
• Participate in disaster recovery testing and database resiliency initiatives.
• Troubleshoot database, migration, performance, and production issues.
• Collaborate with application developers, cloud engineers, DevOps teams, and other technical stakeholders.
• Prepare technical documentation for migration processes, database architecture, deployment, validation, and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL Developer DBA.
• Experience with PostgreSQL administration and development.
• Proven experience migrating Oracle and/or SQL Server databases to PostgreSQL.
• Strong experience with AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and RDS PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with AWS SCT and AWS DMS.
• Strong knowledge of AWS DMS Full Load and CDC.
• Experience with PL/pgSQL, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and schema conversion.
• Strong SQL development and database performance tuning experience.
• Experience with query optimization, indexing, execution plans, and database troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform / Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with Flyway and CI/CD automation.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL security, roles, permissions, and RBAC.
• Experience with database backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Experience supporting production database cutovers and migration validation.
• Strong AWS cloud and DevOps integration experience.
• Ability to work closely with application and infrastructure teams throughout database migration projects.

Preferred Experience

• Experience leading end-to-end database migration projects.
• Experience with large-scale enterprise PostgreSQL environments.
• Experience supporting production migrations with minimal downtime.
• Knowledge of cloud database architecture and modernization.
• Experience with database monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting tools.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is not purely a traditional PostgreSQL DBA. We are specifically looking for a Developer DBA who can combine:

Candidates should have demonstrable experience helping migrate databases from Oracle/SQL Server to PostgreSQL, including schema conversion, PL/pgSQL remediation, AWS SCT/DMS, CDC, performance tuning, validation, and production cutover.
