Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Snowflake Data Engineering Consultant to support the design, development, and optimization of a foundational enterprise HR data warehouse initiative. This role combines hands-on data engineering responsibilities with data architecture, governance, and future-state planning to help establish a scalable analytics platform that will support reporting, advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and machine learning initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines feeding a Snowflake data warehouse.
- Evaluate and enhance existing data models, schemas, and data architecture for scalability and sustainability.
- Develop and maintain dimensional data models, including fact and dimension tables.
- Implement best practices for data governance, automation, and warehouse management.
- Collaborate with analysts and business stakeholders to translate reporting and analytics requirements into technical solutions.
- Assess current warehouse design and recommend improvements to support future growth and advanced analytics.
- Develop automation solutions leveraging Snowflake stored procedures and existing ingestion processes.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and performance across the data environment.
- Work independently while partnering closely with a small analytics team.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience designing and developing solutions in Snowflake.
- Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and dimensional modeling.
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Advanced SQL development skills.
- Experience implementing scalable and sustainable data architectures.
- Strong understanding of data governance and warehouse best practices.
- Ability to evaluate existing environments and recommend future-state improvements.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and drive project outcomes with limited oversight.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HR, workforce, or enterprise reporting data environments.
- Experience integrating data from Workday or similar HR systems.
- Experience with Alteryx or comparable data integration platforms.
- Exposure to Power BI reporting environments.
- Experience supporting predictive analytics, machine learning, or advanced analytics initiatives.
