Who we're looking for

Toyota's Facilities & Environmental Operations Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Environmental Manager.

The primary responsibility of this role is to support the Environmental & Facilities Operations department with assuring Toyota Auto Body California (TABC), Toyota Logistics, Parts Distribution Warehouses, Training Centers, and Research and Development locations in the West Coast maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies' requirements.

Reporting to the Environmental & Facilities Operations Senior Manager, the person in this role will support the Environmental & Facilities Operations department's objective to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal environmental regulations at all West Coast locations.

What you'll be doing

  • Ensuring Environmental operations complies with all Environmental Regulations resulting in Zero Violations & Zero Complaints for TABC and all West Coast operations
  • Ensuring Environmental operations meets all internal objectives.
  • Ensuring TABC manufacturing site maintains their ISO14001 certifications.
  • Managing a regional Environmental Calendar to ensure on time reporting of regulatory compliance and internal reports.
  • Managing daily operations of all aspects of Environmental Engineering, including environmental issue countermeasure/closure and recurrence prevention, KPI target achievement and risk mitigation.
  • Providing strategic leadership to the Environmental team to meet company goals. Supporting, leading, and developing direct reports and monitoring progress on key initiatives. Negotiating and setting regional Environmental KPIs for VOC, waste, water, and energy.
  • Managing change point implementation.
  • Reporting changes, issues, progress and KPI performance to upper management.
  • Managing Safety / Env TMs at the West Coast sites in the approximately 20 vehicle logistics, parts distributions, technician training areas and sales office sites
  • The activity at the West Coast sites will be related to waste management including but not limited to waste manifests, waste storage / shipping and waste KPI reporting.
  • Additionally supporting the West Coast sites related to any acute environmental issues such as spills, water contamination, air emissions overage, high utility usage, etc.
  • This position will also have occasional responsibilities to support the environmental activities of other Regions in the US


What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or similar technical field or 10 years of equivalent professional experience in an environmental related role for manufacturing
  • Supervisory experience with responsibility for direct reports or Toyota experience as a sub-lead or working group lead
  • Experience with environmental regulations in a manufacturing setting such as ISO, Air/Water Permitting, Regulated Waste, or similar
  • Experience with environmental improvements such as energy savings, CO2 reduction, regulated waste management, and/or biodiversity improvements
  • Experience with environmental permitting for air emissions, water and waste
  • Experience providing comprehensive analysis and actions with specific data/details for environmental related projects and activities
  • Experience with ISO 14001 process management


Added bonus if you have

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental or Chemical Engineering
  • Experience Managing a department or section budget
  • Experience leading an external 3rd party environmental audit
  • Experience working with California local city and state regulatory agencies
  • Direct Toyota manufacturing experience

The annual base salary range for this position is $140,200.00 - $243,000.00.
